Postpartum Meal Delivery

The first forty days following birth, also known as the fourth trimester, is an essential time to nourish the new mother with proper postnatal care to promote healing. In nature, this reflects the winter season: a time for retreat, warmth, and rest.

After birth, the mother is in her most vulnerable & deficient state. Her body has just expanded to its capacity and now must restore its balance. Mama will be going through massive changes (again) as her organs, tissues, blood, bones, and hormones all rediscover normal, all the while producing food for her new babe. This time calls upon the circle of care in her life from friends and family to support her. In Chinese Medicine, it is believed that the care provided during the first 40 days postpartum can significantly influence the mother's well-being for the following 40 years. Proper postnatal care is an investment for the future. This time, if honoured, will replenish her with vitality to endure the path of motherhood. In different cultures, it has been an integrated standard of care to nurture the mother and relieve her of her regular responsibilities, so that she can focus on what's most important: healthfully and happily transitioning into her new role as a mother (or mother again).

Postpartum nutrition requires mild foods that are warm, cooked, easily digestible, nutrient rich - and delicious.

It would be my delight to support you in this precious recovery and bonding time.

In your first week postpartum, I will deliver about 3 days worth of nourishing soups, stews, broths, meals, teas, and snacks. This service can be requested on a weekly basis, as desired.

I prioritize gathering seasonal ingredients from local, organic, and sustainable sources as often as possible. Because the postpartum time requires bone nourishing, blood building, and tissue repairing sustenance, I do not provide purely vegetarian or vegan meals.

Meal Delivery Rate: $300 per service

*15% off for doula clients

"The natural rhythm of Earth and of Life- is that there is a period of growth and a period of rest. Pregnancy represents the period of growth, postpartum represents the period of rest."
